The project moves beyond traditional residential metrics, aiming to replace standard price-per-square-foot calculations with a holistic Value Per Square Foot model. This framework prioritizes performance, sustainability, and energy independence over mere size. By integrating eight core pillars—including air quality, restorative sleep design, and connection to nature—the build seeks to prove that a home can actively reduce occupant stress while improving daily function.
Alair Asheville Tapped to Build Wellness-Focused VISION House 2027
Green Builder Media has selected Alair Asheville | Red Tree to construct Harmony, a national demonstration project in North Carolina. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the home serves as a living laboratory for Wellness Architecture, testing how intentional structural design can bolster human health, climate resilience, and long-term property value.

Integrating Resilience and Performance
Beyond wellness, the home targets FORTIFIED certification to demonstrate how modern housing can withstand increasingly extreme weather. The construction process incorporates advanced building science, solar energy systems, and battery storage. Brandon Bryant, partner at Alair Asheville | Red Tree, describes the project as an opportunity to make the invisible elements of a home—such as natural light and air filtration—tangible, measurable benefits for the homeowner. Throughout the construction phase, which began in June 2026, the team will document innovations to provide an educational roadmap for architects and builders looking to shift the industry focus toward high-performance, human-centered living.
