Synchrony Reshuffles Executive Suite to Accelerate AI and Digital Growth
After a 35-year tenure at Synchrony, long-time executive Bart Schaller is stepping down, triggering a significant leadership pivot at the Stamford-based financial services firm. The company is now elevating internal talent to steer its digital platform, technology infrastructure, and operations as it prioritizes artificial intelligence and agentic commerce.

Simultaneously, the firm is realigning its technical and operational leadership. Florin Arghirescu steps into the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, where he will oversee the company’s AI agenda and enterprise engineering. DJ Casto expands his current human resources remit to become Executive Vice President, Chief People and Operations Officer. Casto will now manage customer care, collections, and servicing, aiming to synchronize the company's internal culture with its operational output. These appointments arrive as Synchrony looks to scale its emerging commerce capabilities and refine its platform architecture for long-term growth.
