Peak Design Challenges Disposable Tech with New Wireless Chargers

“Somewhere along the way, we accepted that the electronics we use every day should be cheap, disposable and just good enough,” says Peter Dering, founder of Peak Design. The company is now pivoting from premium travel bags to high-end power accessories, launching a new collection built on anodized aluminum and advanced charging standards.

Peak Design Challenges Disposable Tech with New Wireless Chargers

The centerpiece of this expansion is the Wireless Kickstand Travel Battery, priced at $99.95. Wrapped in machined anodized aluminum, the unit features a folding kickstand and a 5,000mAh capacity. Peak Design claims this is the world’s first device to support the Qi2.3 standard, allowing for 25W wireless charging when tethered to a USB power source. While many batteries of this size struggle to safely exceed 15W, the integration of Qi2.3 enables this higher output. When operating solely on battery power, the device reverts to a 15W wireless maximum.

Beyond the portable battery, the brand is introducing a 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Station. This desktop solution utilizes two 25W pads designed for simultaneous use, further emphasizing Dering’s goal to move away from the industry standard of disposable, low-quality peripherals. By focusing on durable materials and faster power delivery, Peak Design is positioning its new hardware as a permanent fixture for modern daily carry rather than a temporary utility.
