Watson brings decades of experience to the company, having recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense. His background includes directing the Department of War’s Biosurveillance Program and holding key roles at the Department of Health and Human Services, where he managed industrial base expansion during the COVID-19 pandemic response. His tenure at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy also saw him lead the National Bioeconomy Initiative.

At Red Queen Bio, Watson will navigate the complex intersection of AI-driven biotechnology and national security. CEO Nikolai Eroshenko emphasized that the firm is building infrastructure designed to respond to threats that move faster than traditional systems. Watson intends to apply his expertise in policy and threat reduction to ensure the company’s technological capabilities align with the urgent needs of national laboratories and federal agencies.
