The Frontline Execution Benchmark 2026, which analyzed roughly 120 sites across seven industries, reveals a disconnect between machine data and repair reality. Though equipment sensors flag issues instantly, the study found that maintenance backlogs often stretch to 12.1 weeks, far exceeding the 2–4 week industry norm. This delay forces plants to operate in a reactive state, with many facilities reporting that over half of their maintenance work is unplanned.
Innovapptive’s new metric, FEE, assigns a score from 0 to 100% by evaluating two factors: the latency between detection and closure, and the resolution quality, defined as the absence of repeat failures within 90 days. The company positions this as a companion to OEE, designed to reveal how quickly internal workflows translate a signal into a finished repair. Evidence suggests that tightening these execution loops yields substantial returns; for instance, the Indorama Ventures site in Port Neches, Texas, reported $19 million in savings after implementing a unified execution layer, successfully reducing contractor reliance and overtime costs.
