The interactive, half-day program focuses on the technical side of public relations, guiding participants through the process of identifying newsworthy stories and crafting messages that resonate with local outlets. Beyond theoretical instruction, the workshop features a panel of local nonprofit leaders who have successfully navigated media relations, offering attendees direct insight into real-world reputation management and community engagement.
Nonprofits in Santa Barbara to Host Media Visibility Workshop
On October 7, 2026, California Lutheran University’s Center for Nonprofit Leadership will host a specialized PR workshop at the Santa Barbara Foundation’s South County office. Led by Marketing Maven CEO Lindsey Carnett, the session aims to equip local nonprofit staff and board members with actionable strategies for securing meaningful media coverage.
Carnett, an alumna of Cal Lutheran and a veteran of the marketing industry, will lead the session by demonstrating how to repurpose earned media across various digital channels. The curriculum is designed to help organizations leverage press coverage to bolster donor engagement, support recruitment efforts, and enhance overall institutional credibility. Supported by the Santa Barbara Foundation, the event is free for nonprofit professionals serving the region. Interested parties can register through the Center for Nonprofit Leadership website or contact Sophia Coffaro and Brewster King for further details.
