For Noël, the agreement guarantees her a position in North Carolina, sweetened by $40,000 in education loan repayment assistance.
This pipeline seeks to stabilize a workforce plagued by high turnover and crushing student debt. By embedding recruitment directly into the academic experience, the program allows health systems to secure talent long before graduation. For rural hospitals like UNC Health Wayne, the model offers a reprieve from the rising costs of contract labor and onboarding. Dr. Jessie Tucker, the facility's CEO, views the program as a vital tool for ensuring long-term institutional health.
