BioMarin Names Cara Bauer as New Chief People Officer

Bauer joins the San Rafael-based biotech firm from Kyverna Therapeutics, where she served as Chief Human Resources Officer. Her career includes high-level human resources roles at Kite, Riot Games, Netflix, Amgen, and Novo Nordisk. BioMarin CEO Alexander Hardy noted that Bauer’s background in large-scale organizational transformation will be essential as the company continues to focus on developing therapies for rare genetic conditions.

Amy Wireman, who has served as Chief People Officer since 2019, will remain with the company in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition. During her 14-year tenure, Wireman helped oversee the launch of five medicines and managed the recent integration of Amicus Therapeutics. Bauer holds both a bachelor's degree and a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from DePaul University and Wayne State University, respectively.
