Under the new memorandum, the Almaty Akimat will manage the identification of properties and guide residents through the technical connection process. Qualified contractors will then execute the construction and installation work required to bring natural gas into these households. Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy stated that the initiative addresses the varied needs of homeowners, providing a comprehensive support system that bridges the gap between initial consultation and final connection.
Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Funds Almaty Residential Gasification
The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has pledged 460 million tenge—roughly US$1 million—to accelerate the transition of private Almaty homes from solid fuel to natural gas. This partnership with the city administration seeks to modernize local heating infrastructure and directly mitigate the severe air pollution that plagues the city during winter months.

For the foundation, this project serves as a continuation of its long-term social investment strategy in Kazakhstan. CEO Ainur Karbozova described the shift to modern heating as a vital step in improving urban living standards. The foundation has previously funded large-scale city projects, including the reconstruction of the Almaty Botanical Garden and the establishment of Asyl Miras Autism Centers, further cementing its role in the city's infrastructure development.
