TCL is bridging the divide between high-end mobile displays and dedicated e-readers with its new P80 Ultra. The device marks the debut of Nxtpaper technology on an OLED panel, allowing users to toggle between a vivid, flagship-grade smartphone experience and a monochromatic, eye-friendly interface designed for distraction-free reading.
Functionally, the phone operates as a standard Android device for the majority of use cases. A dedicated Nxtpaper Key triggers Max Ink Mode, which strips away color and complex notifications to simulate the look of an e-reader. This mode activates a restricted custom UI, transforming the handset into a focused reading tool without requiring the user to carry a secondary device.
