CREATE Medicines Partners with WestGene to Advance In Vivo CAR Pipeline

The collaboration fuses CREATE’s proprietary RNA gene-writing and multi-immune programming technologies with WestGene’s specialized tLNP delivery systems. By combining expertise, the companies intend to generate a robust clinical dataset, positioning themselves to address complex diseases through scalable, off-the-shelf therapies. Daniel Getts, CEO of CREATE, noted that the move is designed to enhance the speed of clinical breakthroughs and solidify the company’s global pipeline.

The initial development efforts focus on three specific candidates: CRT-403, a dual-target CD19 × BCMA therapy for autoimmune disease; CRT-401, a dual-component HER2 × TROP2 program for solid tumors; and a CD19 × BCMA RetroT program aimed at achieving durable CAR expression from a single administration. These programs complement CREATE's existing work, including the Phase 1/2 trial of CRT-402, which currently serves as the foundation for the company’s CD19 development strategy.

This agreement marks the third major delivery partnership for CREATE, joining existing collaborations with Monash University in Australia and Acuitas Therapeutics in Canada. With over 60 patients dosed in clinical programs to date, the company continues to leverage its human data to refine its delivery systems and CAR architectures. Xiangrong Song, CEO of WestGene, emphasized that the synergy between the two firms will facilitate the transition of differentiated programs into patient settings with greater efficiency.
