North Texas Highway Corridors Yield $25 Billion Economic Boost

The analysis covers the performance of a $7.2 billion public-private infrastructure investment developed alongside the Texas Department of Transportation. Since their staggered openings between 2014 and 2023, these corridors have accommodated 42 million distinct vehicles. Managed lanes within the network proved effective at mitigating peak-hour congestion by 30% and saving commuters more than 3 million hours of travel time.

Beyond mobility improvements, the projects delivered $314.1 million in direct financial value to TxDOT through revenue sharing and refinancing gains. While private concessionaires manage operations and assume financial risk, the corridors remain publicly owned. Current toll revenue is now funding the NTE Capacity Improvement Project, an expansion set for completion in early 2027 that adds general-purpose and managed lanes without utilizing taxpayer funding. Pablo Ferrando, CEO of TEXpress Highways, noted that the decade-long data provides a clear roadmap for how private partnerships can reinvest value back into regional infrastructure as North Texas continues to expand.
