Aethlon Medical Advances Hemopurifier Trials Amid Fiscal Tightening

Aethlon Medical has entered the final cohort of its Phase 1 oncology study in Australia, marking a pivotal step in testing its Hemopurifier device. The San Diego-based firm reported a narrowed operating loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, even as it moves to bolster its cash position through recent equity financing.

CEO and CFO James Frakes confirmed that the first participant has been dosed in the third and final cohort of the company’s Australian oncology trial. Preliminary data from earlier phases suggest the device successfully reduces tumor-derived extracellular vesicles and microRNAs linked to cancer progression, while simultaneously showing improvements in immune function. Beyond oncology, the company’s research into Long COVID gained traction this quarter, with a new manuscript accepted by the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

Financially, Aethlon reported a consolidated operating loss of approximately $1.6 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, an 11.9% improvement over the $1.8 million loss recorded in the same period last year. This reduction was primarily driven by lower professional fees and streamlined administrative costs. To ensure continued operations, the company secured $4.0 million in gross proceeds through a post-quarter common stock offering. With cash and equivalents totaling $4.9 million as of June 30, management maintains that current resources are sufficient to fund operations for the coming year.
