Acely Partners with ACT to Lower Costs for College Entrance Prep

For families priced out of private tutoring, a new partnership between edtech startup Acely and ACT aims to democratize test prep. By integrating official exam content into Acely’s adaptive, subscription-based platform, the companies are offering students a lower-cost alternative to traditional coaching while targeting a broader demographic of college-bound test takers.

Acely, which has seen its annual revenue climb to $10 million in just two years, will now feature official ACT-authored materials directly within its personalized study plans. The platform, which starts at $49 per month, currently supports over 50,000 families across the United States. According to Andy Taylor, senior vice president at ACT, the collaboration is designed to meet students in a modern digital environment, prioritizing accessibility alongside academic rigor.

Since its 2024 launch, Acely has expanded its curriculum to include SAT, PSAT, and AP exam resources. CEO Ron Schneidermann noted that the integration of official content is intended to provide students with a competitive edge that was previously reserved for those with higher disposable income. By leveraging expert-developed curriculum and AI-driven performance tracking, the company seeks to scale its influence in a test-prep market that has historically relied on expensive, high-touch tutoring models.
