DEFSEC Technologies Reports Sharp Revenue Growth as Military Testing Expands

Ottawa-based DEFSEC Technologies saw its revenue climb 92% in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, driven by a surge in government digitization contracts. The company also confirmed the successful completion of U.S. Army testing for its BLISS laser detection system, signaling a potential shift toward wider military deployment.

The company’s financial performance for the period ending June 30 reflected a significant scaling of its defense software business. Revenue from government-focused digitization projects jumped 121% compared to the same quarter last year, contributing to a total revenue of $2.7 million. Profitability metrics also showed improvement, with gross margins widening to 33.1%, up from 28.2% in the previous year.

Beyond financial gains, DEFSEC reached key commercial milestones during the quarter. The company launched its cloud-based situational awareness platform, DEFSEC Lightning 2.0, and entered full-rate production for its ARWEN 40mm baton ammunition. These releases are intended to diversify the firm's footprint across public safety and law enforcement markets.

Progress on the BLISS system remains a centerpiece of the company's strategy. Following the completion of evaluations at a U.S. Army test center, the technology has been selected for an additional invitation-only sensor demonstration scheduled for late August. CEO Sean Homuth stated that these trials are critical for validating the system's ability to provide early warnings against laser activity, potentially securing a role in future U.S. Army vehicle programs.
