Iterion Therapeutics Expands Board to Advance Lead Oncology Asset
Clinical-stage oncology firm Iterion Therapeutics has appointed Manuel Aivado and Bob Smith as independent board members, aiming to accelerate the development of its lead drug candidate, tegavivint. The expansion arrives as the company pushes forward with clinical programs targeting hepatocellular carcinoma and other Wnt-driven cancers.
Iterion's focus remains on tegavivint, a small molecule inhibitor designed to disrupt the TBL1:β-catenin complex. By targeting this mechanism, the drug aims to suppress oncogenic gene expression without disrupting essential cellular functions. Recent Phase 1 data presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting showed the drug was well-tolerated in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, providing a foundation for the company’s broader strategy to address metastatic colorectal cancer and other malignancies dependent on aberrant Wnt signaling.
