The acquisition, slated to close by the end of September 2026 pending regulatory approval, marks a shift for the property and casualty giant toward proactive risk management. S-RM, established in 2005, brings extensive capabilities in cyber risk assessment, incident response, and geopolitical intelligence, which will now integrate with AXA’s existing technology-enabled platforms.
AXA XL Moves to Fully Acquire Cyber Consultancy S-RM
AXA XL has signed an agreement to purchase the remaining 51% stake in S-RM, a global corporate intelligence and cyber security firm. This move concludes a fifteen-year partnership, transitioning the consultancy into the insurer’s newly established AXA XL Risk Advisory unit to bolster its prevention-focused services.

CEO Scott Gunter stated the purchase reflects a broader strategy to move beyond traditional insurance underwriting, offering clients data-driven guidance to anticipate emerging threats. S-RM will continue to serve its international client base across 140 countries while operating under the new advisory division led by Libby Benet. The firm’s current leadership and global staff, who have worked alongside AXA XL for over a decade, are expected to maintain their focus on resilience and crisis response services.
