Motorola is entering the top tier of slab-style smartphones with the Signature 27, a $1,599 device aimed at rivals such as Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra. The phone pairs high-end hardware with a luxury-focused design, but its price puts pressure on Motorola to deliver more than an impressive specification sheet.
The starting price includes 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, matching the configuration of the Galaxy S26 Ultra that also costs $1,599. Samsung offers a less expensive 256GB version for $1,399. Motorola will open US pre-sales on November 19, with the phone going on sale November 26.
The Signature 27 has a 6.8-inch tandem OLED display with what Motorola calls 1.5K “Super HD” resolution and peak brightness of 12,000 nits. Its other specifications include a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, up to 90W wired charging and up to 50W wireless charging. The wireless rate requires Motorola’s proprietary charger; the phone does not have built-in Qi2 magnets.
The rear camera system combines a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia L910 sensor with LOFIC technology, a 3x 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Motorola says an Event Vision Sensor can detect movement at the pixel level to improve clarity when capturing fast-moving subjects. The phone also features Bang & Olufsen-designed audio and will support GrapheneOS, a first for Motorola and for a mainstream phone sold in the US, according to the article. Motorola promises seven years of OS upgrades.
The Signature 27 is part of a wider ecosystem announcement that includes the Moto Watch Fit 27, advertised with up to 12 days of battery life, and Moto Buds 27 earbuds with Bose ANC. Both have IP57 ratings, including the buds’ case. US pricing and release dates have not been announced; Motorola says they will arrive in the coming months. In Europe and the UK, they are expected in the coming weeks. The watch starts at £99.99 (about $134), while the buds cost £179.99 (about $242).
