Shanghai Electric Debuts Embodied AI Robots at WAIC 2026
With 41 degrees of freedom and precision measured in millimeters, Shanghai Electric unveiled a new generation of humanoid and industrial robots at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. The company is pivoting toward AI-native manufacturing, deploying 51 specialized agents to automate complex tasks ranging from pipe inspection to assembly.

Beyond robotics, Shanghai Electric is rolling out its "StarCloud Intelligent Manufacturing" series, a suite of 51 AI agents embedded into factory operations. These agents manage everything from production-line scheduling to predictive maintenance, shifting manufacturing logic from experience-based to data-driven. The company’s new white paper outlines an "AI-Native Smart Factory" architecture that integrates these agents with a digital twin system, effectively removing traditional operational hierarchies to allow for real-time, self-executing production loops.
