1Password Integrates Security Credentials Directly Into Claude

Users can now authorize Anthropic’s Claude to navigate multi-step web tasks using stored credentials, marking a shift in how AI agents interact with private accounts. The integration allows the chatbot to handle logins and form submissions without actually exposing sensitive passwords or MFA codes to the underlying AI model.

This functionality relies on a zero-exposure security framework that injects credentials through a secure channel, ensuring the AI performs the action without ever viewing the data. Access is granted on a task-by-task basis, requiring a biometric prompt for each specific request. To maintain security, 1Password locks down the vault during the process, restricting the agent’s reach to only the information explicitly authorized for that single interaction.

Following each autofill, the system scans the browser page to ensure no remnants of the input remain exposed before returning control to the agent. Currently available for Mac users across business, family, and individual plans, the feature requires both the 1Password and Claude desktop applications. While the integration is initially limited to login credentials, 1Password plans to expand support for payment cards and personal identity details in future updates.
