EnGenius Expands Cloud-Managed Portfolio with New Layer 3 Core Switches

As Wi-Fi 7 and high-bandwidth edge applications demand more robust network backbones, EnGenius has launched a new lineup of Layer 3 switches. The hardware targets enterprise and managed service provider environments, bridging the gap between centralized cloud visibility and the granular control required for complex, high-density infrastructure.

The new series introduces three distinct models designed to handle evolving traffic patterns in modern IT environments. For large-scale enterprise needs, the ECS8830F and ECS8854F provide high-density 10G aggregation and 100G backbone connectivity. The ECS8830F features 24 SFP+ ports with 1.68 Tbps capacity, while the larger ECS8854F offers 48 SFP+ ports with 2.16 Tbps throughput. Both units incorporate advanced routing protocols such as OSPFv2/v3, BGP, and VXLAN EVPN to support network virtualization and segmentation.

To ensure business continuity, EnGenius has integrated redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fan modules into these enterprise platforms. The architecture is built to eliminate single points of failure, allowing for seamless failover during maintenance or hardware issues. For smaller deployments, the ECS6824F provides a 10G fiber core option for SMBs and MSPs, balancing performance with essential security features like 802.1X authentication and DHCP snooping.

Roger Liu, CEO of EnGenius, noted that the release marks a shift in the company’s focus toward the network core. By maintaining a hybrid operational model, IT teams can monitor infrastructure through the EnGenius Cloud while retaining traditional local access tools like CLI and SNMP for daily administration.
