Hong Kong Construction Expo Highlights AI and Robotics Integration

More than 12,000 industry professionals gathered at the Hong Kong Science Park this week for the 2026 Global AI and Smart Construction Conference. The two-day summit centered on the practical application of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the low-altitude economy, signaling a shift from theoretical concepts to active site integration.

Organized by the Construction Industry Council and the Development Bureau, the event showcased over 50 exhibitors demonstrating how digital tools are reshaping design, site safety, and asset management. During the opening ceremony, Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn emphasized that the government’s push for digital transformation has solidified Hong Kong’s position as a global infrastructure hub.

Industry leaders pointed to the city’s second-place ranking in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook as proof of its economic resilience. To sustain this momentum, the Construction Industry Council is focusing on three pillars: workforce talent development, the expansion of industry collaboration platforms, and targeted funding through the Construction Innovation and Technology Fund. As these technologies move from pilot phases to standard construction practice, the focus remains on equipping professionals with the skills necessary to manage AI-driven workflows and robotic site operations.
