International Tennis Federation Rebrands as World Tennis

The International Tennis Federation, which has governed the sport since 1913, officially rebranded as World Tennis on June 25, 2026. This transformation initiates a strategic push to expand global participation from 106 million to 140 million players by 2035, supported by a pledge to reinvest 85% of annual income.

President David Haggerty and Chief Executive Ross Hutchins outlined a decade-long commitment to empower 214 national associations through increased funding and collaborative development. The organization aims to revitalize its talent pipeline, protect the integrity of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, and accelerate digital connectivity across its global network. By prioritizing grassroots accessibility, the governing body seeks to ensure tennis remains relevant to younger audiences while advancing player wellbeing and governance standards.

To bridge the gap between institutional goals and fan expectations, the organization has launched its first Global Tennis Fan Survey. This initiative encourages participants from all regions to contribute insights regarding the sport's evolution, with the prospect of an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2026 Davis Cup Finals in Bologna serving as an incentive for engagement. The shift marks a departure from traditional administrative operations toward a more aggressive, growth-oriented model intended to secure long-term investment and stability for the game.
