Simari told The Verge that Edits Desktop exposes its tools through an MCP, allowing users to work with an agent of their choice, including Meta’s Muse. In his example, a creator could ask Muse to access a video in their downloads folder and produce a rough cut. The project could then be opened in Edits for further editing.
The app first launched on mobile platforms last year. Simari said creators had been “heavily” requesting a desktop version, while Instagram’s plans for AI also contributed to the move to macOS. The desktop app includes more advanced color-grading tools and lets users move between agent-assisted and manual editing.
