Google overhauls Snapseed for iOS with first major update in years

After a three-year period of relative silence, Google has pushed a significant redesign of its Snapseed photo editing application for iPhone and iPad. The update, labeled version 3.0, replaces the long-standing interface with a streamlined layout, marking the most substantial functional change to the software since 2021.

The redesign reconfigures the bottom toolbar to prioritize user workflow. A new "Faves" section now occupies the center position, allowing photographers to pin their most frequently used editing tools for quicker access. While the "Looks" tab remains anchored on the left, Google has shifted the "Tools" menu to the right side of the bar. Users will now find the "Export" functionality relocated to the top-right corner of the screen.

Beyond the interface shifts, the update introduces a suite of vintage filters to the app’s existing toolkit for RAW and JPG processing. Google spokesperson Michael Marconi confirmed the changes aim to provide a more intuitive experience, though the company has declined to comment on when these features might arrive on Android. For now, the refresh remains exclusive to Apple devices, leaving the Android version of the app in its previous state.
