Microsoft updates Windows 11 with deeper Xbox and search integration

Gaming sessions on Windows 11 are becoming less disruptive as Microsoft introduces quick-access controls for system settings directly within Xbox mode. The latest Insider builds allow users to toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and power configurations without minimizing their games, marking a shift toward more seamless multitasking for desktop users.

Beyond gaming enhancements, the search functionality is receiving a significant overhaul. Users can now filter queries across local files, web results, and system actions. The search box serves as a command center, enabling tasks such as adjusting screen brightness, controlling volume, or initiating phone calls on connected devices. These results now display richer metadata, including file modification dates and authors, alongside real-time data like weather forecasts and stock market trends.

To refine the experience, Microsoft has implemented a feedback loop within the search interface. Users can provide direct input on results via thumbs-up or thumbs-down icons, allowing the system to learn and improve over time. These features are currently rolling out to Windows Insiders in Beta Build 26220.9836 and Experimental Build 26340.9843.
