TikTok blocks search terms for trending peptides

Users searching for terms like semaglutide, BPC-157, and retratutide on TikTok are now hitting a dead end. The platform has begun returning "no results found" pages for these specific substances, a move aimed at curbing the spread of unregulated health advice regarding compounds often touted for unverified weight loss or healing benefits.

The crackdown follows a surge in influencer-led promotion of peptides, a broad category ranging from life-sustaining insulin to unapproved, gray-market substances. Proponents frequently bypass traditional medical oversight by directing followers toward compounding pharmacies of questionable quality. Jeff Tang, an influencer linked to Bryan Johnson, first highlighted the search restrictions, publicly speculating that pharmaceutical firms like Eli Lilly may have pressured the platform to act.

Despite the new search blocks, the change remains incomplete. Existing videos containing these peptides remain visible, and the platform’s predictive search suggestions still offer functional alternatives to users typing in prohibited terms. TikTok has not yet clarified whether this adjustment represents a permanent policy shift or a technical update. For now, the "Wolverine" stack components remain partially accessible through slight variations in spelling, suggesting the platform's filtering tools are currently struggling to keep pace with community workarounds.
