Maeving’s latest two-wheeler aims at the growing niche between high-end scooters and entry-level motorcycles. Its 15-horsepower hub motor provides smooth, quiet acceleration, yet the bike lacks the punch required for confident highway travel. Though rated for 70mph, the RM2 often faltered under 65mph during testing, struggling significantly on inclines. These performance gaps are compounded by a suspension system that feels overwhelmed by road imperfections, even when equipped with the optional $995 upgraded shocks.
The bike’s standout feature is its dual-battery layout, which allows riders to remove the 36-pound packs for indoor charging. However, the mechanism is prone to glitches, often requiring repeated attempts to secure the battery door or clear digital error codes. Carrying the heavy, awkward battery packs is a physical chore, and the reliance on a proprietary charger—with a $440 adapter required for standard public charging stations—adds further friction to daily ownership.
