The new curriculum targets sonographers, radiologists, and technologists, combining e-learning modules with hands-on scanning and iterative image reviews. By integrating Alimentiv’s Notō Case Manager technology with IBUS’s scientific expertise, the program provides a scalable framework to increase the number of qualified operators capable of performing noninvasive bowel assessments in inflammatory bowel disease trials.
Alimentiv and IBUS Launch Certification for Bowel Ultrasound Trials
Alimentiv and the International Bowel Ultrasound Group have introduced IUS-STAR, a specialized certification program designed to standardize intestinal ultrasound training for clinical trial professionals. The initiative aims to accelerate site readiness and ensure high-quality, protocol-compliant imaging data across global gastrointestinal research studies.

Since forming their partnership in 2022, the two organizations have expanded the use of intestinal ultrasound across 34 countries. According to IBUS President Kerri Novak, the move toward standardized, repeatable imaging is critical for improving patient participation and deepening the understanding of therapeutic responses. The program is currently open to medical professionals seeking to enhance their proficiency in clinical trial imaging standards.
