The Valley North Project, a 260-mile, 765-kilovolt transmission line connecting Putnam County, West Virginia, to Frederick County, Maryland, is entering a critical evaluation phase. Project developers have utilized feedback from June and July meetings, alongside environmental and land-use data, to narrow study segments into specific potential routes.
Valley Link Schedules November Open Houses for 260-Mile Power Project
Following a summer outreach period that drew 6,500 participants, the Valley North Project team is launching a second series of public meetings in November. These sessions aim to solicit further input on proposed transmission line routes spanning West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia before final recommendations are established by the project planners.

Isaac Rhoades, president of Valley Link, stated that attendees will see increased detail regarding economic impacts, safety, and the technical evaluation of routes. Residents within 1,000 feet of potential paths have received direct notifications, while those no longer impacted have also been alerted. The upcoming sessions will maintain a drop-in format across multiple sites in November, including gatherings in Winchester, Virginia; Charleston, West Virginia; and Brunswick, Maryland. For those unable to attend, project maps and submission forms remain available at vltransmission.com/valley-north.
