Priced at $299, the HomeView arrives in four finishes: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. Its design draws clear inspiration from the 2002 iMac G4, featuring a display that can be wall-mounted or kept on a stand. Beyond aesthetics, the device prioritizes bedroom utility with an ambient light sensor capable of dimming the screen to 0.3 nits, ensuring it remains unobtrusive during nighttime use.
Apple enters the smart display market with $299 HomeView
A seven-inch, square-shaped Liquid Retina display perched atop a rounded speaker base, the new HomeView marks Apple’s most significant push into smart home hardware since the 2014 launch of HomeKit. The device aims to challenge Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub by offering a dedicated control center for connected domestic ecosystems.

The launch accompanies broader updates to the company’s smart home portfolio, including refreshed versions of the HomePod Mini and Apple TV 4K. Apple also introduced a curated selection of security accessories developed alongside third-party manufacturers. By consolidating control widgets, clock faces, and photo galleries into a single interface, the HomeView attempts to bridge the gap between Apple’s software ecosystem and the physical control of home security and automation hardware.
