Following a transition from education to law, Taylor earned her Juris Doctor from San Francisco Law School. Her judicial tenure spanned 35 years, including 21 years as an active judge and 14 years in an assigned capacity. After leaving the bench in 2004, she spent her final eight years of active service in the San Francisco Superior Court’s Civil Division. Her influence extended beyond individual rulings; she served on the Judicial Council Civil Jury Instruction Task Force, helping develop the standardized, plain-language CACI instructions still used by California courts today.
Hon. Lynn OʼMalley Taylor Honored as Pinnacle Professional of the Year
In 1982, Lynn OʼMalley Taylor shattered a glass ceiling by becoming the first woman elected to the Municipal Court in Marin County. Now recognized as a Pinnacle Professional of the Year by The Inner Circle, her career reflects over three decades of judicial service defined by a commitment to legal accessibility.

Since 2019, Taylor has applied her expertise as a mediator, arbitrator, and special master at JAMS. Her contributions were formally recognized that same year with an induction into the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame. Outside of her private practice, she maintains roles with the San Rafael Marin Evening Rotary Club and the board of the Marin Council of Scouting USA, continuing a legacy of public engagement that began with her early years as a teacher.
