Subway Unveils Blueprint Strategy to Overhaul EMEA Restaurant Experience

Subway is set to transform its restaurant footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with "Blueprint," a comprehensive brand overhaul. Starting January 1, 2027, every new and remodeled location in the region will adopt a digitized, flexible layout designed to expand dining occasions from breakfast through late-night service.

Subway Unveils Blueprint Strategy to Overhaul EMEA Restaurant Experience

The strategy shifts the brand’s focus from simple customisation of sandwiches to a total guest experience. By integrating self-order kiosks, streamlined collection points, and a digitally connected environment, the company aims to modernize its operations for current consumer habits. According to Tracy Gehlan, President of Subway EMEA, the initiative is intended to improve restaurant economics for franchisees while offering a consistent brand identity under the new "Get Your Own Way" campaign.

Operational changes include the introduction of "Subway After Dark," an evening-specific concept currently piloting in the Netherlands. This shift alters the restaurant’s atmosphere after 6:00 p.m. with adjusted lighting, music, and an expanded menu featuring items like footlong pizzas and loaded waffle fries. Complementing this are new "Grab & Go" options for high-traffic transport hubs and a premium coffee program. The company plans to nearly double its store count across the EMEA region, including India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, over the next five years.
