The filing, titled "Configuring a Programmable Analog Processor to Solve Inhomogeneous Boundary Value Problems," marks a strategic shift for the Rehovot-based firm. By embedding problem parameters—such as geometric constraints—directly into the computational process, the company seeks to move beyond standard processing tasks into advanced scientific and engineering simulations.
LightSolver Files Patent to Extend Photonic Computing to Physics Simulations
LightSolver, a subsidiary of CollPlant Biotechnologies, has filed a U.S. provisional patent application for a method that integrates complex boundary conditions directly into its all-optical, laser-based computing platform. The move aims to enable the hardware to solve intricate partial differential equations governing heat, fluid, and electrostatic phenomena.

Dr. Ruti Ben-Shlomi, CEO and co-founder of LightSolver, stated that the patent is part of a broader effort to secure the company’s core innovations while expanding the addressable problem-space for its Laser Processing Unit (LPU). CollPlant, which maintains dual operations in regenerative medicine and deep-tech computing, continues to position its photonic architecture as a high-performance alternative for industries ranging from aerospace to financial engineering.
