The new menu items arrive as the restaurant industry pivots toward high-convenience, grab-and-go consumption models. According to the National Restaurant Association, nearly 75% of all restaurant orders are now taken to-go, creating a market demand for portable, single-serve portions. Melissa Cash, Chief Marketing Officer for KFC U.S., noted that the goal is to align the menu with the fluid schedules of modern diners rather than forcing consumers to structure their day around a full meal.
KFC Reinvents the Iconic Bucket for the Cupholder Generation
Eighty-seven percent of Americans now graze outside traditional mealtimes, a shift prompting KFC to launch its new Go Buckets. Starting at $3.49, these scaled-down containers are engineered to fit into standard car cupholders, marking a departure from the massive family-style vessels that defined the brand for nearly seven decades.

Each Go Bucket features a mix of protein and sides, offering six distinct combinations including four-piece nuggets, two-piece wings, or a single tender paired with individual servings of fries or wedges. These configurations provide between 16 and 18 grams of protein per serving. This iteration serves as a modern evolution of the original bucket introduced in 1957 by Colonel Harland Sanders and franchise owner Pete Harman, which was designed exclusively for large-scale, at-home sharing.
