With 98 new grants awarded in 2026, the nonprofit Hyundai Hope on Wheels has pushed its lifetime contributions past the $303 million mark. Since its 1998 inception, the organization has funded over 1,600 research and care initiatives, solidifying its role as a primary private supporter of pediatric oncology across the United States.
Executive director John Guastaferro emphasized that the mission extends beyond simple financial backing, focusing on accelerating tangible breakthroughs and supporting the long-term health of survivors. To mark the milestone during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the organization hosted a series of events in Washington, D.C., including a Survivorship Summit and the launch of a new national campaign, The Mark of a Warrior. This initiative aims to elevate the visibility of the organization’s signature Handprint Ceremonies, where young patients leave colorful impressions on Hyundai vehicles as a symbol of resilience and the ongoing fight for a cure.
