Google Chrome updates cross-device syncing and adds Gemini study tools

Moving between devices is becoming a seamless transition for Chrome users as Google introduces precise session memory for tabs. The update ensures that scroll positions and partially completed forms persist when switching from mobile to desktop, eliminating the need to manually relocate your place in long-form documents or unfinished web tasks.

Beyond navigation improvements, Google is deepening its Gemini integration to assist with academic and research workflows. The AI can now process a broader range of media, including podcasts and third-party video content, to generate summaries, identify key takeaways, and clarify complex subject matter. This expansion moves the browser further into the role of a personal tutor, allowing users to extract information from audio and video files that were previously difficult to search or index.

To facilitate active learning, Gemini now features a tool capable of creating interactive quizzes directly from the content of an open tab. This functionality aims to move users beyond passive reading by testing their retention of the material in real time. While this quiz feature is currently limited to desktop users in the United States and India, Google plans to roll out these capabilities to additional regions and mobile platforms in the coming months.
