The project involves installing advanced passenger information, public announcement, and CCTV systems across 226 new fully automated four-car trainsets. These units, which feature an option for 100 additional vehicles, are central to creating the world’s largest open railway system with automated train operation. Deliveries will span from 2028 to 2040, with the first trains scheduled to enter service in 2032.
Teleste to Equip Copenhagen’s New Automated S-bane Fleet
A 40-million-euro contract has positioned Finnish technology firm Teleste as the primary provider of onboard systems for Copenhagen’s next-generation S-bane trains. The agreement, secured with Siemens Mobility, marks a critical step in a massive modernization effort for the Danish capital’s 90-year-old railway network.
Teleste will manage these functions through its proprietary S-ARRIVE software platform. According to Valerian Sand, Executive Vice President for Public Safety and Mobility at Teleste, the partnership combines the expertise of both companies to deliver a future-ready passenger experience. Beyond internal communications, the integration includes intelligent video analytics designed to bolster passenger safety and operational efficiency while minimizing the long-term cost of ownership for the DSB-operated fleet.
