The device marks a shift in Logitech’s strategy for the brand it acquired for $117 million in 2018. While the company retired the Blue name in 2023, the Yeti 2 retains the aesthetic legacy of its predecessor while undercutting competitors like the Shure MV7, which starts at $299. The most significant departure from the 2009 model is the integration of a 3D voice-tracking proximity sensor. This component automatically recalibrates gain, equalization, and pickup patterns in real time, compensating for a user’s movement relative to the capsule. By handling these adjustments internally, the microphone removes the steep learning curve that previously required creators to manually balance their audio levels. Despite these modern internal upgrades, the hardware remains accessible to the entry-level market, priced just $10 higher than the original unit's launch cost nearly two decades ago.

The Blue Yeti 2 arrives with an interactive LED interface, AI-driven noise suppression, and a proximity sensor that promises to automate the technical complexities of home recording for $159.99.
