The two-day summit gathered over 3,000 leaders to discuss shifting the continent from a resource-exporting model to one defined by local value creation. Dangote emphasized that while building large-scale organizations in Africa presents unique operational hurdles, the necessity of the African Continental Free Trade Area provides the required framework for success. He challenged business leaders to commit to the continent, noting that the inertia of inaction is the greatest barrier to progress.
Industrialization took center stage, but the discourse also spanned the continent's digital and creative frontiers. Olugbenga Agboola of Flutterwave pointed to AI and digital payments as catalysts for market expansion, while Elly Savatia of Signverse showcased how a $2 million Google-funded project is documenting African sign languages. Meanwhile, the Afreximbank CANEX program reported tangible gains in the creative sector, securing over 120 offtake agreements that have brought brands like Zimbabwe’s Vanu Vanwerk to global retailers.
