Every time the Tampa Bay Rays secured a victory this season, the Duke Energy Foundation pledged $1,000 toward community utility assistance. This initiative culminated in a $93,000 donation presented on September 18, benefiting 14 social service agencies tasked with helping residents manage their essential energy expenses across the state.
Beyond this sports-related initiative, the Share the Light Fund draws contributions from employees, shareholders, and customers, with the Foundation matching up to $500,000 annually. Since the start of 2026, the fund has distributed over $436,000 to local agencies, following a total of nearly $650,000 provided throughout 2025. These resources are distributed through a network of nonprofits, such as Daystar Life in Pinellas County and the Heart of Florida United Way, which provide a critical safety net for working families struggling to balance rising living costs.
