NorCal Auto Group Boosts Pediatric Cancer Funding at UC Davis

A child is diagnosed with cancer every 36 minutes in the United States, a reality driving the latest philanthropic push by NorCal Auto Group. The organization recently finalized a $100,000 contribution to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, strengthening a long-standing partnership with the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program.

The total donation combines a $50,000 gift from three regional dealerships—Roseville Hyundai, Folsom Lake Hyundai, and Elk Grove Hyundai—with a matching grant from the national initiative. The group formally commemorated this support during a May event at a Sacramento Republic FC match. Beyond financial contributions, the company participated in the program’s signature Handprint Ceremony at UC Davis this July, where young patients leave painted handprints on a vehicle as a symbol of resilience.

This effort aligns with the national launch of Hyundai’s "The Mark of a Warrior" campaign. Potamkin Automotive Group, which operates the NorCal locations, has directed more than $4 million to the initiative since its inception in 1998. CEO Cole Potamkin noted that supporting pediatric research remains a central component of his family's multi-generational philanthropic legacy, which spans across science, wellness, and environmental initiatives. Hyundai Hope on Wheels continues to be one of the largest corporate sponsors of childhood cancer research, having distributed over $300 million to improve treatment outcomes nationwide.
