The company’s model shifts away from the industry standard of forcing shippers to migrate to new platforms. Instead, Loadsmart builds agents that integrate directly into a customer’s current tech stack via API or EDI. These agents handle routine processes such as tracking status updates, retendering failed loads, and processing claims. According to Loadsmart, approximately 80 percent of these tasks are resolved without human intervention, with that efficiency increasing as the software adapts to specific customer workflows.
Loadsmart Debuts AI Agents Backed by Human Freight Expertise
Chicago-based logistics firm Loadsmart is rolling out a suite of AI agents designed to automate high-volume, repetitive freight tasks like document filing and dock scheduling. Unlike traditional software deployments, these agents operate within existing enterprise systems and are supported by in-house experts who resolve any tasks the AI cannot complete.

To ensure reliability, Loadsmart employs its own freight operators to manage the remaining 20 percent of exceptions. By focusing on the specific task rather than the entire account, the company aims to eliminate the common friction where automated systems dump unresolved issues back onto a shipper’s desk. As part of its market entry, Loadsmart is offering a free proof-of-concept period for single workflows, with a performance-based guarantee: if the agent fails to resolve the assigned task, the shipper incurs no cost. The implementation cycle for these custom agents typically spans 60 days.
