The platform moves away from rigid, schedule-based merchandising by directing field teams only to locations where specific sales risks or on-shelf availability issues have been identified. By analyzing first and third-party data, ShelfGain alerts teams to prioritize underperforming stores, ensuring that human resources are deployed where they generate the highest commercial return rather than following a predetermined route.
RDSolutions Debuts ShelfGain to Bridge Retail Data and Field Execution
Consumer goods brands often struggle to translate complex retail data into physical shelf results, leaving revenue on the table due to inventory trapped in back rooms. Richmond-based RDSolutions is attempting to solve this disconnect with ShelfGain, a platform that triggers targeted field interventions based on real-time store performance signals.

Coresight Research suggests that in-store inefficiencies account for a 5.5% loss in gross sales, often because products have reached the store but failed to make it to the floor. ShelfGain addresses this by pairing data-driven alerts with a nationwide field force that provides photographic verification of stock replenishment, display construction, and planogram compliance. According to CEO Jacob Blondin, the system is designed to convert raw insight into immediate, corrective action at the point of purchase. Chief Commercial Officer Lee Kallman noted that the service aims to solve the industry-wide shortage of clear, actionable answers, allowing brands to reduce the costs associated with unnecessary store visits while simultaneously improving retail execution accuracy.
