By 2035, the world will see a 100,000-fold explosion in token consumption as artificial intelligence shifts from a digital novelty to a physical-world engine. Huawei’s latest research, presented at their Shenzhen launch, outlines a roadmap for building the infrastructure necessary to sustain this agent-centric future.

To bridge the gap between current limitations and the 2035 vision, the company proposes ten strategic directions. These include scaling computing clusters by 100 times, optimizing chip-level design through time scaling, and establishing a new Agent OS foundation. The company also highlights the necessity of overcoming physical barriers, specifically power and thermal constraints in data centers, to ensure sustainable growth. Complementing this, the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2026—produced with Tsinghua University—forecasts that AI will unlock over $27 trillion in economic value over the next five years, provided nations invest heavily in digital infrastructure. By categorizing 90 countries into stages of development, the report aims to provide policymakers with a blueprint for customized, data-driven industrial upgrading.
