U.S. News Marks Two Decades of Pediatric Hospital Rankings

Since the inaugural study in 2007, the scope of these rankings has grown to capture a comprehensive view of clinical performance, including the third annual review of pediatric and adolescent behavioral health programs. Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News, noted that identifying the right medical team for a complex surgery or rare diagnosis remains a daunting task for parents, and these rankings provide a necessary starting point for informed decision-making.

To develop this year's edition, U.S. News collaborated with RTI International to analyze clinical data from 114 institutions while surveying thousands of pediatric specialists. The methodology prioritizes objective metrics such as clinical outcomes, adherence to established medical best practices, and the depth of resources available for patient care. Eleven hospitals across eight states and Washington, D.C., secured spots on this year's Honor Roll, including institutions like Boston Children's Hospital, Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. These facilities are recognized for delivering high-performing, multi-specialty care across the board, serving as benchmarks for excellence in the field.
