The acquisition highlights the intensifying challenge of succession planning for independent annuity agents. Many advisors struggle to balance the valuation of their books with the necessity of finding a successor who will maintain personalized service for long-term clients. Ty J. Young’s firm focuses specifically on this niche, offering an exit strategy that emphasizes continuity for retirees.
Ty J. Young Wealth Management Acquires Arizona-Based Bethel Retirement
Atlanta-based Ty J. Young Wealth Management has acquired Mesa’s Bethel Retirement Planning, marking another step in the firm's strategy to absorb annuity books from departing financial professionals. The transition allows founder Dan Bethel to exit the industry while shifting his existing client base to a larger national platform.
Ty J. Young, CEO of the firm, noted that the process goes beyond simple asset transfer. By inheriting Bethel’s client relationships, the company aims to preserve the legacy built over decades of practice. Currently, the Atlanta-based firm manages over $1 billion in assets for nearly 10,000 clients nationwide. This deal reinforces the company's position as a primary aggregator for independent advisors looking to transition out of the sector without abandoning their policyholders.
