Orshio Adasu University in Makurdi, the partners hosted a two-day solar workshop, equipping students with 50 PB200 kits for hands-on technical training. This session also marked the launch of a Campus Ambassador Programme designed to spread clean energy advocacy throughout the region.
BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Scale Solar Initiative to Nigeria
In a move to bridge the persistent energy gap in West Africa, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat deployed solar technology to Nigeria’s Benue State between September 7 and 10. The collaboration, part of the 'Lighting An African Family' program, provided hundreds of households with renewable power systems to foster local development.
Beyond the classroom, the effort reached the Yelwata community in the Guma Local Government Area. Here, the team distributed 180 solar kits specifically to households headed by women and the elderly. These units provide immediate relief for more than 1,000 residents living without reliable grid access, enabling basic necessities like lighting and mobile communication. According to BLUETTI spokesperson James Ray, the expansion from Kenya into Nigeria signals a deepening commitment to scaling clean energy infrastructure across the continent. Since its inception, the LAAF program has reached 60,000 people, with current projections suggesting the partnership will offset 337.5 tons of carbon emissions over the next five years.
