CB&I and AG&P Complete First All-Steel LNG Tanks in Philippines
Two 60,000m³ liquefied natural gas storage tanks are now operational at the Ilijan LNG facility, marking the first time all-steel full containment technology has been deployed at this scale. The project, led by CB&I and AG&P Industrial, replaces traditional reinforced concrete with 9% nickel steel for both inner and outer walls.

Jack Aughenbaugh, Vice President of Operations for CB&I, described the installation as a landmark achievement that proves all-steel containment is commercially viable for future infrastructure. Alexander Leo Gamboa, President and CEO of AG&P Industrial, noted that the facility is the largest LNG import terminal in the Philippines and signaled intent to continue the partnership on upcoming ventures. The success of Tank 1 and Tank 2 at the Ilijan site provides a template for similar energy projects seeking to balance speed of execution with rigorous containment requirements.
