A delegation of Illinois legislators visited the Streator water treatment facility last week to examine how recent capital projects impact local utility reliability. The tour provided state officials with a firsthand look at multi-million dollar upgrades designed to modernize water processing and secure resources for the region’s residents.
John Killips, Senior Director of Engineering for Illinois American Water, noted that the company has directed $26.5 million into the Streator plant and its distribution network over the past five years. Following the site tour, Senator Balkema expressed confidence in the current trajectory of regional infrastructure, citing the necessity of these upgrades to meet evolving drinking water regulations. Representative Bunting echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining aging systems to support community utility needs.
